The Interos Impact: Case Studies

The Interos team has the deep supply chain experience it requires to delivering high-value, high impact solutions enabling Government agencies to transform their processes reduce their supply chain risks. Through deploying our teams to numerous federal customers, the Interos team has made a significant impact. Below are a few representative samples of how the Interos team has made a difference to its customers:

  • Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). In the 2010 Commander’s Guidance, DLA commits itself to delivering “agile and responsive logistics solutions to the warfighter” at an “optimal cost.” The Interos team is working with the DLA to support the implementation of their Enterprise Business Systems. Included in this work is modeling and forecasting capabilities to ensure the right product is at the right place at the right time; supporting the implementation at the customer sites through information transfer meetings and onsite training, and configuring the procurement system that will manage and streamline ordering processes. Often finding ourselves as a liaison to Armed Services, Interos is facilitating the handoff of extensive procurement activities to the DLA to ensure uninterrupted service to our armed forces.
  • U.S. Navy. The Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) has mandated that shore infrastructure be reduced by 30 million square feet by fiscal year 2013. Given this imperative, Interos is facilitating the transfer of Navy warehouses to the Defense Logistics Agency. With deep expertise in military logistics, our team is responsible for identifying objectives, systems, inventory and people that are involved in the process – reporting our findings to DLA and working with both DLA and the Navy customer to ensure the mission of support to the soldiers and sailors is never interrupted.
  • U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Interos helped CBP implement a new inventory visibility system that gives the home office visibility into available inventory across their critical missions. This was the first step to meet the agency’s objective of ensuring 24-hour turnaround for supporting field agents with the materials they need while ensuring the method created financially accountability of the inventory and was done in a secure manner. By bringing our expertise in commercial technology and inventory management best practices, Interos was able to address CBP’s supply chain risk, cost and performance objectives. Prime contractor key personnel stated, “We feel that by implementing industry best practices within our logistics support centers, and providing better technology in house, we will be in the best position to serve the agents in the field,” and recognized Interos’ “key role in taking our organizational capabilities to the next level.”
  • ManTech International Corp. Mantech, a leading provider of innovative technologies and solutions for mission-critical national security programs for the Federal Government, brought in Interos to conduct a time and motion study of its systems integration and warehousing operations (to identify any risks or efficiency lacking processes) as part of their routine continual improvement processes. “Interos conducted the study, which resulted in the development of a cost configuration tool and produced a set of recommendations that drove us to look more closely at how we do business,” says Richard L. Simis, SVP, IT Systems Lifecycle Management, ManTech Information Systems and Technology. “We anticipate a 10 to 15 percent increase in efficiency.”
